BTU undertakes investments along the midstream and downstream segments of the energy value chain in emerging markets.

• Industry Focus: BTU’s investment focus is anchored around the power industry and related synergistic opportunities in the gas, coal and chemical industries. BTU invests in gas and coal-fired generation as well as in generation derived from renewable energy sources such as solar and hydro.
• Geographic Focus: BTU focuses on project opportunities in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. In addition, BTU targets projects in Europe and North America that integrate backward to fuels and feedstocks in the Middle East and North Africa.
• Asset Class: BTU acquires operating assets and develops greenfield and brownfield projects. BTU invests in all stages of the project development cycle from predevelopment to later stage development to permanent equity participation.
• Investment Multipliers: In partnership with local governments, BTU develops industry clusters aimed at upgrading the global competitiveness of local and regional energy and capital markets and at supporting BTU’s long-term investment strategy.
